Melissa practices within the firm’s United States District Court department, primarily focusing on Social Security appeals before the federal courts. Melissa joined the firm in 2019 following a clerkship with United States District Court Judge Hon. Michael A. Telesca in the Western District of New York, Rochester, New York. Prior to her clerkship, Melissa practiced estate planning and administration.
Melissa earned her Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Brockport and her Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo School of Law. While in law school, Melissa interned for Mental Hygiene Legal Service of the Fourth Judicial Department of New York State, Hon. John T. Owens of Monroe County Surrogate’s Court, and Hon. Marian W. Payson in the Western District of New York. She also participated in the law school’s mediation clinic and mediated civil disputes through Amherst’s Town Court and various public assistance organizations.
For the past six years, Melissa has sat on the Board of Directors of Literacy Rochester, an organization that works to improve adult literacy in the Greater Rochester area. She is also involved with the Genesee Country Village and Museum and has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Rochester. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family.
