Melissa concentrates her practice on federal appeals – specifically, she practices Social Security appeals before United States District Courts and veteran appeals before the United States Court of Appeals of Veterans Claims.  Melissa joined the firm in 2019 following a clerkship with United States District Court Judge Hon. Michael A. Telesca in the Western District of New York, Rochester, New York.  Prior to her clerkship, Melissa practiced estate planning and administration. 

While in law school, Melissa interned for Mental Hygiene Legal Service of New York State Supreme Court’s Appellate Division, Fourth Judicial Department, where she regularly met with individuals receiving inpatient care at psychiatric treatment centers throughout the region and advised them of their legal rights.  Melissa also interned with Monroe County Surrogate’s Court Judge Hon. John T. Owens, and Western District of New York Magistrate Judge Hon. Marian W. Payson. 

In 2014, Melissa joined the Board of Literacy Rochester, where she served as a board member for seven years, and chaired the Governance Committee for two years.  She has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Rochester as a Big Sister, and is currently enjoying serving on several committees with the Genesee Country Village and Museum in Mumford, New York.  In her spare time, Melissa enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family.
